Where to use Dry Ice Solid Blocks?

Temperature-Sensitive Materials

Perfect for transporting perishable goods or safeguarding thermo-sensitive materials, these solid blocks adapt to diverse freezing needs.

Bigger and longer shipments

Dry ice’s extremely low temperature helps prevent spoilage and bacterial growth by leaving minimal moisture behind. As dry ice sublimates, it does not produce any liquid, which in turn reduces the risk of contamination and spoilage and making it perfect for longer shipments.

The Cutting-Edge Science of Subzero Dry Ice

Dry ice is formed through the sublimation of carbon dioxide gas. The gas is pressurized, cooled, at extremely low temperature of -78.5°C (-109.3°F), and then rapidly expanded, causing it to freeze into fine particles. These particles are compacted into solid blocks or pellets. Dry ice Pellets are modified in cylindrical shapes of approximately 3/4” in diameter and 1”- 2” in length. Dry ice Pellets undergo sublimation when exposed to normal atmospheric conditions, transitioning directly from a solid to a gas, releasing carbon dioxide and creating the characteristic fog ensuring a moisture-free freezing solution. Suitable for bigger shipments, unlike traditional ice, our Dry Ice Solid Cubes sublimate directly from solid to gas, offering a moisture-free freezing solution. This crucial feature minimizes the risk of water damage to delicate items and ensures contamination-free storage, making it perfect for transporting perishable goods or safeguarding thermo-sensitive materials. Each block ensures a consistent and prolonged freezing effect, making it an ideal choice for a variety of applications. A Dry ice block weighs 50 lbs with dimensions of 10”x10”x12”. These blocks can be cut to obtain different sizes and weights, the most commonly used are slices of 10”x10”x2” (10 lbs) or 10”x5”x2” (5 lbs). Dry ice blocks last longer than any other form of dry ice due to the fact that they are made with higher compression rates, and have less area of temperature transferring than pellets.

Ask us anything

Leave it outside or in a well-ventilated area, where it will evaporate or sublime to gas and disappear. Avoid public access areas and keep away from animals and children.

The lifespan of dry ice depends on several factors, including its size, the ambient temperature, and how it’s stored. A whole, five-pound block of dry ice can last 18-24 hours in a cooler and 3-5 hours outdoors . If you are storing dry ice in liquid, it should last up to 45 minutes.

Yes, dry ice can be used in drinks for a smoky effect, but it should never be consumed directly. Always wait until the dry ice has completely sublimated before drinking. Use food-grade dry ice and handle with care, using tongs or gloves.

Dry ice is cold, incredibly cold. It has a surface temperature of -109.8 Fahrenheit or -78.5 degrees Celsius
