Which & When

Right Tool for Every Cold Chain

Three shipment types, three cooling configurations.

Perishable Food & Meal Kits

Gel packs hold 2–8 °C for 48 h. Pair with dry ice blocks and pellets for 5-day seafood, meal-kit, or gourmet frozen food shipping.

Pharma & Lab Specimens

Clinical samples and biologics need precise 2–8 °C control for pharma and lab shipments — even on multi-leg air cargo cold chain routes.

Catering & On-Site Events

Keep food at service temperature without the mess of loose ice. Gel packs in insulated coolers — the caterer’s clean, reliable setup.

Most shipments go wrong because shippers use one tool when they need two. When transit exceeds 48 hours — or your product has multiple temperature zones — the right answer is both.

Handle Dry Ice Safely

Dry ice is solid CO₂ at −78.5 °C. Always handle it with insulated gloves, never bare hands. Never pack it in a fully sealed, airtight container — the sublimating gas needs to vent. Never consume it, and keep it away from children and pets. Use only in well-ventilated spaces.

FAQ

Cold Shipping Supplies — FAQs

What buyers ask before ordering coolers and gel packs — answered straight.

How long do gel packs stay cold?
Subzero gel packs maintain 2–8 °C for up to 48 hours inside an insulated cooler. For routes beyond 48 h, pair them with dry ice. Actual duration depends on ambient temperature and cooler size.
Are the gel packs reusable?
Yes. Freeze, use, refreeze — our leak-proof, US-manufactured gel packs handle repeated freeze-thaw cycles without degrading. Most commercial customers get dozens of reuse cycles from each pack.
Can I use gel packs and dry ice together in the same cooler?
Yes — and it’s often the optimal cold chain setup. Dry ice provides the deep freeze; gel packs maintain the 2–8 °C refrigerated zone. Together, they cover shipments that require multiple temperature bands in one package.
What cooler size do I need for my shipment?
Our 15 qt cooler handles same-day or overnight shipments. For 2–5-day transit, the 55 qt or 75 qt is the right choice. Freight-scale shipments start at 170 qt. Not sure? Contact us — we’ll spec the correct size for your route and product volume.
Do you offer bulk or volume pricing?
Yes. We serve commercial accounts — distributors, labs, food shippers — with wholesale pricing on both coolers and gel packs. Contact our team for a custom volume quote.
Can you ship coolers and gel packs with a dry ice order?
Absolutely — one supplier for your complete cold chain kit. Add coolers and gel packs to a dry ice delivery or pickup, and we’ll have it ready together.
